Helldivers 2 for the PS5 and PC is now out, and we've enlisted three IGN staff members to take on the disgusting bug like Terminids, and the Terminator-esque Automatons, in this explosive, intense and bloody 18 minutes of 4K 60FPS gameplay - all captured with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU.
The trailer opens like a galactic military recruitment video and showcases the game’s brand new third-person gameplay, teasing much more intense battlefields compared to the first game.
You can still extract once the timer has run out. But if you do, you lose the ability to use your Stratagems. This might make the wait for the extraction ship a little more challenging as you fight off enemies, but it's also worth going to unlock the "In the nick of time" achievement.
Helldivers always made it feel like you were expendable assets to the Super Earth elites, as you could respawn with the resources you’re provided in the game.
Should I play the original Helldivers game first? Well, Helldivers 2 isn’t the continuation of an on-going storyline, so you don’t need to have played the original game released back in 2015 – but we’d definitely recommend taking a look, as it scored very highly with critics.

The various settings options mostly speak for themselves. There are two options of note though. The volumetric fog option seems to alter the resolution of the volumetric lighting in general, with lower resolution results at lower settings, while the anti-aliasing toggle actually does work properly on PC, completely turning off any AA treatment. It's weird that this setting doesn't do anything on PS5 but at least it functions as described on PC. However, the lack of any form of reconstruction option such as DLSS, XeSS or even FSR 2 is a real shame. Instead, a simple spatial upscaler is used, which bears the hallmarks of the OG FSR, just like PS5. Unfortunately, the unexciting visual settings do mean that the upgrades over PS5 aren't as large as you might expect. There's little difference between the PC at max settings at 4K and the PS5 in its quality mode, absent some slightly higher Helldivers 2 Gameplay resolution shadows and a bit of a cleaner image. It still doesn't provide a pristine image though and aliasing remains a significant problem.
Adjust the settings of your gun out on the field. If you press and hold square while you're using a gun, you can change a variety of features during a mission. You can toggle your flashlight on and off, or change whether the gun fires automatically or in bursts.

You have your own ship, which serves as your home base and allows you (and your squad of up to three friends) to launch missions to new planets, customize your loadout, and choose recognizable freedom-saving weapons like orbital drone strikes and chemical weapons, called Stratagems.
While the rewards from the Premium Warbond aren't all cosmetic, the equipment on it isn't any better than what you can get from the normal Warbond that's free to access.
On the topic of Stratagems, ship module upgrades are equally important. These will affect your Stratagems, and you can see the ones that will be influenced in the bottom right corner on each ship module upgrade.

With a squad of 4, you can optimize your group’s loadouts as well as giving each other designated roles for what weapons and equipment to use for each mission.
